Boil Water Advisory In Effect For Parts Of Westchester

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Several Westchester communities will be under a boil water advisory beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday. It will remain in effect for approximately 150,000 residents in New Rochelle, Eastchester, Bronxville, Tuckahoe, Pelham and Pelham Manor until midnight.

Boil Water Advisory Issued for in and around Pelham

A boil water advisory has been issued by the Westchester County Department of Health for Wednesday, May 27, in seven Westchester County communities: New Rochelle, Eastchester, Bronxville, Tuckahoe, Town of Pelham, Village of Pelham and Pelham Manor. The municipalities are served by the United Water Rate District #1, and will remain in effect on Wednesday from 10 a.m. through midnight.

Pelham Manor Romance: A Tale of Aaron Burr and His Love, Theodosia...

Aaron Burr, who served as Vice President during the presidency of Thomas Jefferson and who fought a duel with, and mortally wounded, Alexander Hamilton on July 11, 1804, spent time in Pelham, bought a farm there which he promptly sold to his step-son Augustine J. F. Prevost, and married Theodosia Bartow Prevost, a widow born in Pelham Manor who was ten years his senior. In 1931, Elizabeth Cushman published an entertaining article about Aaron Burr's tremendous love for Theodosia Bartow Prevost who was born in the Manor of Pelham and whom Burr married on July 2, 1782.

Cannonball Fired in The Battle of Pelham Found on Plymouth Street in Pelham Manor

A cannonball believed to have been fired during the Battle of Pelham on October 18, 1776 has been found buried in the yard of a Plymouth Street home in Pelham Manor. The ball, shown in the photograph below taken by Marianne Gilland, is a "solid shot" ball.

Accounts of Village Police Departments of Pelham Manor and Pelham Published in 1925

In 1925 the local newspaper, The Pelham Sun , published nearly a full page of articles and photographs about the police departments of the Village of Pelham Manor and the Village of North Pelham. The artices included a little about the histories of the two departments, the personnel who had served the departments over the years, and crime statistics for the late teens and early twenties of the 20th Century.
