PELHAM, N.Y. A pet dog was reportedly killed Wednesday afternoon in a house fire in Pelham Manor, lohud reported . There was nobody home when the fire began in the basement of a house at 1084 Washington Ave. around 4:45 p.m., the report said.

As early as 1902, a Pelham Manor resident named Frederick H. Allen was an aggressive advocate for removal of the stone causeway that connected Hunter's Island to the mainland at today's Shore Road. Allen advocated in favor of removing the causeway to open a raceway course for local crews operating principally out of the New York Athletic Club boathouse on Travers Island.

Police: Confrontation Leads to Pelham Manor Cop Being Shot Yonkers Police

Off-duty Pelham Manor Police Officer Kenneth Campion, 47, was shot in the arm and chest by a Yonkers police officer Thursday night during a confrontation in Redmond Park, according to police. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are being investigated, but officers approached Campion, who was armed, in the park and told him to drop his weapon which he declined to do, according to News 12. Yonkers police had been called to the park on a report that a man was acting suspiciously and may have been suicidal.
