Save the Sound, Long Island Soundkeeper , and Atlantic Clam Farms of Connecticut, a commercial shellfishing business, are suing Westchester County and the municipalities of Larchmont, Town of Mamaroneck, Village of Mamaroneck, New Rochelle, Pelham Manor, Harrison, Port Chester, Rye, Rye Brook, Scarsdale, and White Plains for violating the Clean Water Act. The groups allege that the county and towns have failed to adequately limit ongoing water pollution from poorly maintained sewer systems that are leaking harmful raw sewage into the Sound.

On a lazy, warm Sunday morning during the summer of 1923, Pelham Manor trolley operator Edward Glazier was operating the Pelham Manor trolley -- the very trolley that inspired internationally-renowned cartoonist Fontaine Fox to create his comic strip "Toonerville Folks" that centered around the dilapidated trolley known as the "Toonerville Trolley." The Model Railroad Once Housed in the Abandoned Pelham Manor Station on the New Haven Branch Line

For a number of years after the New Haven Branch Line stopped running passenger service in December 1937 at the beautiful little Pelham Manor Depot designed by noted architect Cass Gilbert, a model railroading club was permitted to use the empty station. The Westchester Model Club, Inc. built a massive model railroading layout that even included a tiny replica of the very Pelham Manor Depot within which the Club was housed.

Pelham Manor Romance: A Tale of Aaron Burr and His Love, Theodosia...

Aaron Burr, who served as Vice President during the presidency of Thomas Jefferson and who fought a duel with, and mortally wounded, Alexander Hamilton on July 11, 1804, spent time in Pelham, bought a farm there which he promptly sold to his step-son Augustine J. F. Prevost, and married Theodosia Bartow Prevost, a widow born in Pelham Manor who was ten years his senior. In 1931, Elizabeth Cushman published an entertaining article about Aaron Burr's tremendous love for Theodosia Bartow Prevost who was born in the Manor of Pelham and whom Burr married on July 2, 1782.

Waterbury joined with a group of New York City "club men" and organized a new "Country Club" dedicated to the enjoyment of all "legitimate sports." Black, a member of the well-known Fifth Avenue jeweler Black Starr & Frost, lived with his wife, Mary Witherbee Black, in a splendid mansion that stood on a large tract where the homes between 958 and 1000 Esplanade now stand. The couple moved to Pelham Manor in the 1870s and originally lived in the home that still stands at 1057 Esplanade, an example of the "Esplanade Villa" style of home offered in the early days of the development efforts of the Pelham Manor and Huguenot Heights Association.
